S5 - Minor's Masturbating

Characters: Artemis, Cassius, Norma, Krato, Dusty, Skender, Minor

  • Skender's horse is named Reva, named after his ex-wife
  • Reyna comes in to the room, says tomorrow morning we'll set out, and they'll take us to the capital of the Arathian Republic, near Liria.
  • Eastern Cleansing Company #7 is the one that has the gunslinger

  • We're reunited with our animals
  • We're taken to a grand ship, a passenger ship. Not as big as the one we came here on. A pleasant ride to the republic, a beautiful countryside on the horizon. Different ships coming in, workers going up and down the dock with clipboards, keeping track of shipments.
  • Reyna gives us all 3 days rations as we leave the ship, and looks to Skender. "Take care of them, and we got you a going away present." Hands him a small crystal, an armour crystal. It can be attached to his armor, gives him 1 damage reduction up to 10x per day.
  • We can check in at the guild, which is on the second level of Liria.
  • We lay our eyes on the capital. A gorgeous layered fortress, of white marble and stone. We see multiple rooms have a bright blue hue to them, reminds us of a layered cake. (Ref. Arathian Republic)

  • The guild is on the north side of the upper side of the fortress. Lower quarters are the ground level, has some shops, dirt roads. Market areas, little stalls.
  • Next level up is stone pathways, has nicer shops, inns, larger markets, fountains.
  • Above that, royal quarters. Most of the government officials and their people live there.
  • Above that, the castle quarters. Before this country was more diverse, this would've been a castle. It's the headquarters for the 5 branches for the government now. You have to have permission/a reason to get into that level, not accessible to all.
  • We're approaching from the south, the only place to get in from the docks is the south gate. We're in the lower quarters coming in from that gate.
  • It's obvious that we're approaching the guild as there are many adventurers outside, plus a board with available jobs.

  • We check in with the guild, and register. A muscular man with short black hair waves for us to come upstairs. We head into the back room, sans animals. The tall, strong human holds out his hand to Skender and introduces himself as Burgess. He tells us he knows the Dreadfleet have a base along the coast, but their ships haven't made it back when they go looking. He says the knights branch of the government, or the library might have more information on the relic itself. The library should be on the western side of the royal quarters.
  • Their ships, merchant ships have had trouble with the Dreadfleet. Has been ramping up in the last few years. Anywhere along the western coast of this continent has seen the Dreadfleet.
  • The Knights Branch is in the Royal Quarters, in the south eastern side.
  • We have to check in again before we leave the city to go somewhere else, at least every 2 weeks.
  • The Silver Square on the west side of the upper quarters would have magic items and stuff.
  • The dude recommends staying away from inns on the lower quarters, he'd recommend The Shining Lantern Inn, which is to the east of us currently. The average inn is 5s a night, and can give us all of our meals for 5s a day.
  • We inquire about the urgent quest on the bottom of the board. It's from the library - there was a break in that resulted in several deaths and a stolen book. The head archivist is residing in the castle, and they have tracking on the book, which is unreliable. It hasn't left the city, but they don't know where it is.
  • We have a head slot, a face slot (goggle), back slot (cape), body slot (armor, robes), shirt slot, bracers, gloves, belt, boots, amulet, and two rings.
  • Potion of light healing is 50g.
  • All of our equipment, armor and weapons can be masterworked, which is half as expensive as enchanting. Adds additional AC or damage to items.
  • "No, we're not killing Krum!"
  • Krum said some kids came up to him because they wanted to pet Dew, and they told him where he could find work on this city. He asked them about pirates, and they said that the people they work for don't really mess with the pirates and that it's very hush hush. They told him he could find work somewhere with a Compass  in the name, and sometimes they see the pirates buy supplies in the city every now and then.
  • Backwoods Compass is an information area, they have postcards and stuff there.
  • We split up to look into different places.
  • Me, Cassius, Skender and Norma go to the library
  • The library is beautifully grand, but not too in your face. The people that live or come here, appreciate the knowledge. It's made of stone, with a blue roof. There is one receptionist at a large desk, and hella rows of books. A half-end woman with long blond hair, a front braid that keeps the hair out of her eyes, blue eyes and large round glasses.
  • The head archivist is a woman. She's in the castle quarters run, and she's trying to work with the guiding branch to track down the put, and she put a request in to the guild.
  • She can't give us much information, we don't know which book we're looking for and she doesn't know much.
  • We head towards the Knights Barrack. There is a desk with a man in full plate armour, and then just a bunch of beds. Skender introduces himself, and the guy says he's recently been informed of our arrival. Skender asks for the dreadfleet's last known location. Damage reports, in the past 4 months they had 11 ships stolen or taken over, 3 ships that have been sunk. Their leader is called the Phantom bc he wields invisible blades. 100% sure their hideout is along the coast. Last report is that they are suspected to be north of the Republic bc the frequency of attacks there are higher.
  • He wakes up another dude; tall, human man. Vice-Captain of the Knights. Knights have been doing the most work on on-land investigation. They're not sure if it's the Dreadfleet yet, but there has been a recent murder and thievery that happened in the city. They think they found a possible location, they sent a few scouts and they haven't heard back from them. We think this has to do with the post on the guild board.
  • They've tracked him down to a house that looks inconspicuous, but they think might have some traps. It's on the eastern end. If they can assist us, they'd like to.
  • The house is in the lower quarters, inconspicuous. Cassius sends his raven into the sky to fly around the house. He can see not much of the house, it doesn't have any obvious bad signs. But he's pretty sure it's the right one, bc there's a heavy set of footprints approaching the house. They go to the window, and then to the front door.
  • The bird attempts to look into the second floor window. There's a desk, a chair, books along the sides. The second room is way darker, you can't quite make out all of the details, but you're pretty sure there's a mechanism above the door.
  • There's magic on the second floor for sure, and there seems to be lots below us. We don't detect anything evil.
  • Skender kicks the door open, and misses the giant blade that falls from the top of the door.
  • We see similar blade traps above the windows, a fireplace, a cabinet, and a staircase going up. In front of the fireplace there's two chairs, there's also a dining table, some counter space.
  • Cassius finds a trap door under the cupboard.
  • We go upstairs to investigate the 4 doors upstairs.
  • Each room is booby trapped, but we find some platinum in one of the rooms. One of them is full of magic books, which blow up.
  • We go into the basement, but when moving the cabinet it ends up being a mimic and Skender gets stuck.
  • WE FIGHTINNN
  • We defeat the mimic, and head to The Shining Lantern.
  • We're greeted by a tall furbolg. We pay 6s each for a room and board.
  • The other squad met some street urchin kids, which led them to someone named Artur, who is a halfling who is kinda shady and hires kids for work. These were the same kids Krum talked to before. They found a store (Pierre's General Store) where pirates buy their stuff. They intimidated the shopkeeper, and they found out where the delivery for the pirate rations go. It's delivered at a secret dock warehouse, southwest outside of the city.
  • They went to Backwards Compass, and met a woman named Genifine. Minor fell in love with her. They went to Fibbian's Flowershop to see if they could get some healing stuff, but they couldn't. Minor bought a flower for her and told her to meet him at the docks at midnight, but her brothers came instead and told him to leave him alone.
  • We can investigate the pirate warehouse next, or the basement in the house.
