S8 - I, I, Captainz

Characters: Artemis, Cassius, Krato, Dusty, Norma, Skender, Minor

  • Last time, we took out the warehouse. We sent Krum, Dew, and Ursa to fuck around. We were able to figure out a plan, and get the jump on the baddies.
  • We find a locked chest, which Dusty is able to open.
  • "I'm the Captain now." - Minor
  • Minor is able to sail the ship (???), so we all get on. We go to talk to the Captain.
  • Skender takes off his gag, and the Captain starts talking. He says he works for the Dreadfleet, his name is Captain Hale "Birdeye" Clive. He says the main outpost is on sea, but they do have a cove where he was going to drop off supplies.
  • We tell Captain Clive that we will agree to his terms if he can captain the ship for us, but we need to know that he can teach us how to sail the ship. We tell him that his crew is dead, he says "Yar :("
  • Captain Clive says the outpost is 3 nights sailing north, a cove hidden by an enchantment which is where they were going to bring the goods. It's enchanted by a fake rock wall that you can sail right through, but if you don't know what you're doing you'll definitely hit the rocks.
  •  We learn how to sail? I think? From the docks we hear clapping. We look towards the dock, and there's a halfling man, in nice attire - this is Artur, the halfling that was talking to the kids. He looks at us, and says he's not here to fight. We took care of a problem they had, and he comes in peace.
  • He comes with an offer, another job. They'll overlook the stunt we tried to pull with the kids, if we're interested we can meet one of his guys outside of the east gate tomorrow morning. They know we've been asking about the pirates, and they have information they'd be willing to give us if we finish the job. He says something is coming into town that they'd like to get their hands on, and they need help stopping it before it comes in.
  • We start sailing out of the dock, and dock at the city. Skender gets off the boat, someone with a clipboard walks up and asks what the purpose of our trip is. Estelle and Captain Clive stay on the ship. We name it I, I, Captainz.
  • They charge 3p per day to dock here.
  • "Come buy our goods, we'll give you a deal, come on aboard, things we definitely didn't steal!"
  • 3 guys look at our ship, and they offer 147 platinum. 14 platinum goes to tax, and 1 plat to the workers. 132 platinum is left.
  • We divide up the money evenly, and then go shopping.
  • We go to where the knights barracks are, and they recognize Skender. They heard we took care of Regulus, and they're glad. They don't have any more information. They'd brought in a mage from The Guiding Branch to dispel the paintings.
  • Savyn from the Silver Square should be able to help us with identifying the gloves and potion we found.
  • Savyn's Trinkets and Baubles. We walk in, and there's hella trinkets everywhere. There's a door that goes to a back room or working area. We make our presence known, and we see a gnome man, frantic curly white hair, goggles on his forehead, dirt/grease on his face, but where the goggles sit on his face is clean. He's using the goggles as a headband.
  • We ask Savyn for his help to identify our items, 50 gold per item to identify. Krato gives him the gloves, and he says the gloves aren't cursed. Twice per day, you can create a 5x7feet force wall. The force wall disappears if you move more than 100ft away. The wearer can move their hands through the force wall.
  • Savyn is a tinkerer, and creates all sorts of things.

  • Krato and Norma get fitted for capes.
  • We head into the Shining Lantern, and grab dinner and a drink.
  • We sail back to the pirate dock, so that we don't have to pay to dock for the night. We each take shifts so that the ship doesn't get attacked. Nothing happens through the night.
  • Minor is fast asleep in the morning. We wake him up, but he doesn't get full spell slots or heal as though he slept. We're not sure why.

  • We go to see the guy outside of the east gate. We get a bit farther out, and we see some guys by the start of the forest dressed in all black.
  • As we're walking up, we see a man leaned up against the tree, with a blonde man bun. What looks to be maybe a dwarf sitting on the ground cross-legged, playing with a dagger, full grey beard. A woman, high ponytail, brown hair, throwing darts and knives at the guy that's standing, and the darts are hitting the tree. They're killing some time.
  • The woman turns around, she knows our names. She's glad we came, and that we're serious about it. They have a merchant coming into Lyria with a captive creature, and we need to stop them before they reach the city. They need the creature alive and well, as they have a buyer to sell it outside the city. It can't go into the city, as it would be cruel to keep a creature of its size in the city. But we can't kill anyone, they don't deal with killing. We just need to steal the creature.
  • The creature is big and blue, and they have it sedated somehow. It doesn't have wings. It'll come in a cart that has a merchant, and then another cart that has the creature in a cage.
  • There's a pile of black cloaks beside the woman. They're bandit cloaks for us, so that no one is any the wiser.
  • We roll insight and find they are telling us the truth, and that the woman is passionate about the animal not getting hurt.
  • We grab our cloaks, and cover up any recognizable marks, clothes. Cassius sends his raven with a note back to the boat to let Minor and Estelle know that one of them should come to help. There are ruins down the road that we can use as cover for our ambush.
