S10 - A Potion of Piss

Characters: Artemis, Cassius, Krato, Norma, Skender, Estelle, Dusty

  • The boys are in fighting and Minor is spider-man now somehow. Norma and I are standing off to the side.
  • We decide to give the rod back to the people to give it to the farm or whatever where it was going to go anyway
  • The half-elf woman sees us and is glad we did the job. Estelle does an insight check, and there is no ill intent from the woman. Estelle gives her the rod, and the woman calms the behir. She nods to the half-elf man.
  • He approaches us and tells us, we can head over to the Backwards Compass. Talk to Genifine, and tell them we're from down south and just arrived in town. Perhaps, can we use the bathroom? Then, we'll be able to get in and talk to their leader.
  • Dusty goes to pick up his potion launcher, and Norma goes to get her cloak.
  • Cassius goes to the inn and finds that the head archivist is back.
  • Clive approaches Estelle and tells her that he remembers her face from before, "He used to talk about you all the time. He didn't take up another maiden after you left."
  • We rest for the night, heal up and get spell slots back.

  • We wake up, start rummaging around. We can't find Minor. I cast speak with animals and ask Ursa if she knows where Minor is, but she just grumbles at me.
  • Dusty sees some footprints outside heading towards town.
  • We cut to Minor, it is early in the morning and he's making toward one of the knight outposts that he's visited before in the upper quarters. He runs up to the reception desk, and asks if he can join the knights. The receptionist says he'll grab one of their recruitment officers. Minor says he's ready to start a new life and start fresh, because he hasn't made the best choices in his life. Minor says he doesn't trust the guy, and wants to leave, but he walks into the back room. They bring him a meal, and Minor tells them that he has no friends, that the people he thought were his friends are not. He hears whispering about a list in the hallway.
  • Minor spider climbs to the top of the door, the guards see that he's not there and try to go find him. They spot him running on the roof, but he escapes.
  • He flies to the edge of town and we spot him there. He tells us he wants the same level of respect as Skender has, and tells us what he did that night. He said they have his name on a list, and most likely all of our names on it. He says that Ursa doesn't agree with him at all, she wants to stay because of Skender.
  • Skender tells him that we have to stay as a team because we'll all die if he leaves us. Skender will consider getting Minor into the Proctorate once we're all done.

  • We go to the Backwards Compass and tell Genifine the secret words we're supposed to say. She drops the façade, and takes us to the back room. She says we can follow her. She moves some crates, and we see there's a staircase leading down. She says when we want to come back up, do a little knock on the employees only door so that she can let us out in case someone is in there.
  • We make our way down, and it leads to a door with a sliding peephole in it. We tell the person our names, and an old man opens the door. Behind him, we see a room much darker than the one we were in before. It doesn't match Lyria's aesthetics. It resembles a tavern, a bar/receptionist desk at the back. There's a somber tone to the room as we enter, and we can see people sharing a drink with their friends but they're also looking at us. The barkeep is a tiefling woman, blue hair and blue skin.
  • Krato, Dusty, and Minor order drinks. Minor drinks the strong drink, and passes out.
  • We roll perception, and notice that near the far end, there's a large chair with a man sitting in it, and another man with slicked back hair standing beside him. These look like the people in charge.
  • We approach the man, and the drau says the man in the chair is in charge. They thank us for doing the thing with the behir, and ask what information we'd like in return.
  • We ask for any and all information on the dreadfleet and the Phantom. The Dreadfleet has two known bases in their region, one is along the coast. The other, which they believe is the main base, is on the water. The cove is where they take supplies for their community, many different ships take supplies there. Their families stay there, it's more of a community. This isn't their main base. Their main base seems to be on the water, and is quite popular for some reason they haven't figured out yet. There's been many ships with passengers going there, not related to the pirates.
  • The Phantom is a half-elf, over 100 at this point. Salt and pepper hair. They believe his powers are of the psyonic variety, giving him the invisible blades he's known for. His true identity is TF. They haven't learned his name, but he is a fierce fighter.
  • We ask about the blue relic. They heard that the proctorate was attacked while transporting a relic, but they're not sure where it is now. If they were to guess, if it is owned by the dreadfleet still it would be in their main base of operations.
  • They don't know where the main base, they think that it's mobile.
  • We have already dealt with a runaway (Regulus) who broke their code.
  • Two things before you leave, #1 our cut. He throws a bag of 27 platinum at us. #2, Uraqis, would you mind marking them? A fall eldrin woman comes up to us, and holds her hands out to all of us. We now know their base of operations, so this is a tracking charm, so in case we cross them they will be able to find us. Any disruption of the charm will consider an act of defiance. It will disappear when we leave this region. Little paper people come out of her hands and land on our chests, and disappear.
  • Dusty asks what the motivation of their operation is. They said they are thieves with a moral compass. Thieves like the pirates are thieves without one. They do more good than people like them. They provide money and food to orphan children in the street, but they are looking out for their own selves through the city. But if we ever take out other crime, like pirates, that will benefit them.
  • Minor sees the halfling and human man who met him at the docks sitting at a table. They are Genifine's brothers.
  • As we get a drink at the bar, we see Artur with a drink. He's glad we're all well.

  • We head to the library, to see the head archivist. If we take the grand staircase, it's the first door on our right. She should be in her study.
  • We see a placard on her door that says Alyannad, Head Archivist. She's a winter eldrin.
  • We ask for information on the murder. A book was stolen from her, and it was a very important book and she needs it back. The thieves have killed several guards, and some of her librarians. She wants to see these people brought to justice. They know that they are in the city still, but they're not sure where. They have runes on the book, but they can't track them within the city. They know that it is still in town somewhere.
  • She wants the book to be returned, and information on who stole it. It's an information book. Legends of the Eastern Coast, Volume 2 is the title. Black bindings, a map of the eastern coast on the front of it.
  • She can't think of any enemies that would steal it. It's a part of her personal collection, she does think that it has value. There are also things in there that one could try to find or believe exists, and they could then sell that information.
  • We go to the room where the murders happened, we can see that it's sealed off magically with a guard standing post in front of it. There's blood everywhere in the room, and Alyanna leads us to a locked door. She opens the door with a key around her neck, and shows us the archive room, her personal books. There was a commotion outside, and then the thieves came in here and grabbed the book. The room is spotless, and it looks like nothing has been touched. In sharp contrast to the room before. We can see that one single book is missing.
  • The door isn't magically protected, it can only be opened with the single key around her neck. The Archivist wasn't here when this happened, so the key wasn't physically here when this happened.
  • There are many sets of footprints going though the blood, which means there were many assailants. There were at least 5 people. Skender sees 9 footprints.
  • It seems like this was done by a professional, and it seems they had boots that made them trackless. They come straight from the door, to that bookshelf, and back. Not a step taken elsewhere. The tracks were smaller, most likely a smaller race.
  • The first volume, Legends of the Eastern Coast Volume 1, is not in the room.
  • The lock doesn't look like it's been tampered with, but there's a slight scrape where the key would go into. It might've been picked, but it's been done by someone extremely skilled.
  • We go downstairs to talk to the receptionist. She says she was on her day off, so she wasn't here at the time.
  • We ask Alyanna for a letter to let the morgue know that we're coming to investigate the bodies. Mimosa and Dustin are going to the morgue.
  •  Dusty and Norma get disguises, and go into the morgue. The dudes say they found large slash wounds in most of the bodies that came back.
  • 7 cuts says he doesn't recognize who killed him, but humans and half-elves and maybe some elves killed him.
  • 4 cuts says the door to the archival room didn't open before he died, and he didn't see anyone holding a blue book with black binding.
  • Looking at the slash wounds, they are not too deep, but they're fairly wide. Looks similar to wounds we received recently. This was not done by a long sword, but by a scimitar.
  • They look at the third body, but no they don't. They don't learn anything additional, similar wounds on this guy as well. 9 cuts on this one.
